Ihave
been wandering this planet with my camera, photographing my impressions for over a
quarter century. In that time I have accumulated an incredible array of
skills and experiences that are represented in the photographs I create. Along
the way I have also developed a critical eye and the technical capability to
meet all the challenges that my client’s project present.
My current roster of clients and projects feature photographs
created with a strong measure of creativity and craft. My mission as a
photographer is to create emotional symbolism in the images I produce. The
craftsmanship I bring to bear in this challenge is the cumulative skill built
with 30 years of practice.
As I proclaim in my motto "Photography that tells your story"
my purpose is to illustrate narrative. Here is an account of of my
story and the experiences that make me the photographer I am today.
in the beginning...

The foundation of my professional photography career is
rooted in an enlistment in the US Army as a Still Photographic Specialist.
I spent four years, first in an exceptionally intense and comprehensive
photography training program followed by constant practical hands on experience.
Uncle Sam provided me with a mountain of film to shoot and develop, a multitude
of camera technologies and rapidly evolving
shooting conditions.
That
photographic experience included assignments of photojournalism, studio
shooting, documentary, surveillance, forensic, aerial and countless hours in the
darkroom. The range of cameras covered the gamut from 35 mm, twin lens reflex,
4x5 Speed graphic, press cameras, aerial cameras, motion picture cameras and
8x10 studio view cameras. This was a total
immersion experience in the craft
and technology of photography. The depth and breadth of that experience is the
foundation of my work today. The experience of living overseas also has fed my
lifelong passion for travel photography I
moved on from the Army to the University of New Hampshire. In addition to
getting my bachelors in political science I participated in a wide array of
photographic pursuits. These included staff photography and editorial positions
on several university publications. Once again I immersed myself in a daily
diet of photography challenges and projects. Spot news coverage, location
portraits, event coverage, sports photography combined with constant darkroom
production were the hallmark of this period.
My post college career involved a variety of professional
pursuits that did not always involve a full time reliance on my camera to
make a living but I have always continued to shoot regularly. I maintained
a darkroom until 2004 when digital technology made it an impractical relic for
the type of projects I was involved in.
current status...
Since
1998 I have been working as a full time freelance photographer. The
clients and projects I have been working on included extensive travel
assignments. They range from the Tibetan refugee centers of India to the
jungles of Panama.

Most of my work was for public relations and press campaigns for a wide
assortment of clients. Please review my client list and
galleries to see
some of my recent photographic activity.
